The Knot Little Books of Big Wedding Ideas by Carley Roney & the editors of The Knot

image

This is a set of four small books full of information and inspiration for planning your wedding.

Vows, Readings & Toasts offers up ideas on choosing whether to use traditional vows or not, and some advice on writing your own vows if you want to write your own. There are suggestions offered of passages that can be used as readings for your ceremony, and ideas for the various toasts that come later (the best man’s traditional toast for example). I like that they offer up some ideas for a number of different faiths.

Stationery, Decor & Favors covers all the bases for selecting your wedding stationery. Explanations of the different types of paper and methods of printing are offered. There is inspiration for decor ideas for both the ceremony and the reception, and some tips on selecting favors for your guests.

Bouquets & Centerpieces offers up tips on finding the right florist to work with and gives some suggestions on selecting flowers for your big day. It includes some ideas based on color (very handy since weddings almost always have set color schemes to work with) and also by height.

Cakes, obviously, is all about choosing your cake. From finding a baker to tips to help save money on the cake, this is the final book of the set.

Throughout all four books there are beautiful photos to give you inspiration when planning your wedding. Though photography is not a covered topic among the books (something that would have been nice to include in the set!) there are some lovely photos included that may give you some ideas for some shots you would like your photographer to get on your wedding day.

Overall the books in this set are well composed and beautifully put together. They offer some excellent insight and tips to help make some of the smaller details of your wedding easy to plan, though it is not something that covers all the bases. I don’t think it is really a “must have”, but if you find you are having some trouble getting started with the basics it may help get your creative juices flowing a bit. I think the section on writing your own vows is probably the most helpful of all the information in the set.
